Dr. Igal Reizis received his medical degree from Sackler Medical School in Tel Aviv, Israel, and is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He completed his surgical internship at St. Francis Hospital in Trenton, New Jersey, and his residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, where he was awarded Attending Physician of the Year. Dr. Reizis is a co-founder of Boro Park OB/GYN and has been practicing since 1982. He is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and has many years of experience providing excellent obstetrical and gynecological care to thousands of women. Dr. Reizis, who has devoted 35 years to obstetrics and gynecology, currently focuses solely on providing gynecological services. Dr. Reizis is fluent in Russian, Hebrew and Yiddish and enjoys playing tennis and traveling.
Dr. Jack Troper received his medical degree from Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara Medical School in Guadalajara, Mexico. After completing his internship at Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, Dr. Troper completed his OB/GYN residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn. He is a co-founder of Boro Park OB/GYN and has been practicing since 1982. Dr. Troper is also an Assistant Professor in OB/GYN at Maimonides Medical Center and Mount Sinai School of Medicine. As a father of triplets, Dr. Troper specializes in providing the highest quality care to mothers of multiples and is closely involved with the Multiples division at N’Shei CARES, a division of Agudah Women of America. Dr. Troper is fluent in Yiddish and Spanish and enjoys spending quality time with his family.
Dr. Moshe Schwartz is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and received his medical degree from Hebrew University Medical School in Jerusalem, Israel, where he served as a flight surgeon in the Israeli Defense Force. Dr. Schwartz completed his residency in OB/GYN at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York as well as a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology at Columbia University. Dr. Schwartz has held multiple positions at Maimonides Medical Center including Associate Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Director of Labor and Delivery, Director of Resident Education and Director of Reproductive Endocrinology. Dr. Schwartz is also a Fellow of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr Schwartz is fluent in Hebrew and Yiddish and enjoys reading and art.
Dr. Matthew Silverman is a board certified OB/GYN with 25 years of experience. He graduated from New York Medical college and completed his surgical internship at Northwell Hospital in Manhasset, New York. He then went on to Obstetrics/Gynecology residency at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center in Brooklyn, and was elected Chief Resident in his final year. Dr Silverman is currently President of Boro Park Ob/Gyn, as well as Assistant Professor at Maimonides Medical Center and Mount Sinai Medical School. He is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American College of Laparoscopic Surgery. Dr. Silverman is a legacy physician. His family’s commitment to the community spans two generations. Dr. Silverman’s father, Sydney Silverman, was also a highly experienced and dedicated OB/GYN physician in Brooklyn for 40 years.Dr. Silverman specializes in treating women who have had multiple C-sections or several miscarriages, to conceive and deliver healthy babies. He is qualified to treat high and low risk obstetrical patients as well as provide gynecological care. Dr. Silverman is our senior physician who performs a wide spectrum of gynecological surgeries at both Boro Park’s Surgical Center and Maimonides Hospital. Dr. Silverman is an integral part of the high quality physician staff of Boro Park OB/GYN.
Dr. Elaine Sklar is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and received her medical degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, New York. Dr. Sklar was appointed Chief Resident while completing her residency in OB/GYN at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Sklar is professionally affiliated with the American Medical Association and the American Osteopathic Association, and is a Junior Fellow of the American Board of OB/GYN. She enjoys spending time with her husband and three adorable sons.
Dr. Katarzyna Perlman received her medical degree from Semmelweis University School of Medicine in Budapest, Hungary, and is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Perlman completed her residency in OB/GYN at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. She has received the Laparoscopy and Endoscopy Award from the American Association of Gynecological Laparoscopists as well as the Finalist Award from the Brooklyn Gynecological Society. Dr. Perlman is currently the Director of Urodynamics at Boro Park OB/GYN. She is particularly qualified in Urodynamics and in performing Essures and Hystrosonograms. Dr. Perlman is fluent in Polish, Swedish and Hungarian. She enjoys theatre, traveling and spending time with her family.
Dr. Shira Alter | Boro Park OB/GYN
Dr. Shira Alter received her medical degree from the Sackler School of Medicine in Ramat Gan, Israel. She completed her residency in OB/GYN at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York and is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Alter previously was a faculty physician at Sheba Medical Center and a regional health specialist at Maccabi Health Center in Israel. Dr. Alter is particularly skilled in treating women with high-risk pregnancies, and specializes in providing care for diabetic patients. In addition to her extensive medical background, Dr. Alter has a Masters of Science degree in Psychological Counseling from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Alter is fluent in Hebrew.
Dr. Diana Roth received her medical degree from Sackler School of Medicine in Israel. Dr. Roth was appointed Chief Resident while completing her residency in OB/GYN at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. She was also honored with Best Teacher of the Year award by medical students. She subsequently went into private practice and has been serving the Boro Park and Williamsburg community since 2002. Dr. Roth was honored by Zichron Shlome Refuah Fund as an exemplary Board Certified Physician in OB/GYN. Dr. Roth’s compassion and dedication to her patients is well known throughout the community. She speaks several languages including Hebrew, Russian, Polish and Hungarian.
Aggie Smith is a licensed nurse practitioner with 20 years of experience. She specializes in well women gynecology. NP Smith graduated from the State University of New York OB/GYN Nurse Practitioner Program in 1994. She also has an MSN in High Risk Mothers and Infants from SUNY. NP Smith has worked in private practice as well as at a SUNY clinic. She has also worked as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Breast Cancer at Brooklyn Hospital for six years and in Labor and Delivery at Coney Island Hospital for ten years.
Dr. Edan Yodfat received his medical degree from Semmelweis University School of Medicine in Budapest, Hungary, and is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Yodfat served on the Israeli Defense Force and subsequently completed his residency in OB/GYN at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Yodfat has prior experience in treating high-risk and underserved patients in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Dr. Yodfat is particularly qualified in performing hysterectomies, Essures, Laparoscopic Surgery and other gynecological procedures. He also specializes in vaginal birth after c-sections (VBAC). Dr. Yodfat is a Fellow of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and an active society member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is fluent in French and Hebrew.
Dr. Kathleen Zafra is an experienced OB/GYN and received her medical degree with the Global Scholars Program of Saint George’s University. Dr. Zafra completed her OB/GYN residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York where she was honored with the Resident Achievement Award and the Excellence in Teaching Award in recognition for both her outstanding patient care and her commitment to medical student education. Dr. Zafra obtained her Bachelor’s in Biology and Public Health at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, where she performed research that was published in the Journal of Biology and Reproduction.
Dr. Yvonne Noel is a board certified OB/GYN. She received her doctorate degree in medicine from Chicago Medical School and her undergraduate degree from William Smith College in Geneva, New York. Dr. Noel completed her internship and residency in OB/GYN at SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn-Kings County Medical Center. She also completed a Fellowship in Pelvic Surgery at SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse. Dr. Noel has previously held positions such as Clinical Assistant Instructor and Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Cornell University and SUNY Health Science Center. Dr. Noel holds a Master of Arts in Environmental Education and Conservation and has focused on Health and Climate Change.

Midwives

Rebekah Korine graduated from the NYU Nursing Program and the SUNY Downstate Midwifery Education Program, where she received both the Clinical and Academic Excellence Awards. Rebekah worked as a nurse in the Labor and Delivery Unit at Maimonides Medical Center while attending midwifery school. Rebekah began her midwifery career at the Williamsburg office of Boro Park OB/GYN in 2005. Rebekah has been providing exceptional care at Boro Park OB/GYN for the past ten years, and she thoroughly enjoys working with the diverse community of Brooklyn.
Tanya Tringali received her Master’s in Midwifery from the Midwifery Institute of Philadelphia University and her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from New York University. Tanya began her midwifery career at Hudson Center for Women’s Health in Nyack, New York, where she provided prenatal care through the Rockland County Prenatal Clinic and the Ezras Choilim Health Center in Monroe. Prior to joining Boro Park OB/GYN in 2012, Tanya worked at Full Circle Women’s Health in White Plains, New York. Tanya currently teaches in the Midwifery Program at NYU.
Diane Nicholson received her Master’s Degree in Nursing with a Certificate in Midwifery from Columbia University in 1994. Prior to that, Diane worked for many years as an RN in the Labor and Delivery Unit at NYU Medical Center and Mount Sinai Hospital. Diane received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from State University of New York at Brockport, New York in 1988. Diane previously practiced midwifery at Maimonides Medical Center, the Brooklyn Birthing Center, the Long Island Jewish Medical Center, and with Dr. Diana Roth in her practice. Diane is nationally accredited by the American Midwifery Certification Board and is a member of the American College of Nurse Midwives.
Caroline Paster graduated from the Midwifery Education Program at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, where she received the Spirit of Midwifery Award along with Clinical and Academic Excellence Awards. Caroline received her Bachelor’s Degree in Neuroscience and Women’s Studies from Syracuse University and completed a post-baccalaureate at New York University. Caroline previously worked as a midwife at Coney Island Hospital servicing a diverse population of patients. She was recently awarded the 2016 Outstanding Preceptor Award from the American College of Nurse Midwives. Caroline thoroughly enjoys her work in obstetrics and gynecology and is also involved in training student midwives.
Susannah graduated from NYU’s Nursing and Midwifery Programs. She worked as a nurse in the Maimonides Labor and Delivery Unit, and began her midwifery career in the Williamsburg office of Boro Park OB/GYN in 2005. She has also worked at Methodist Hospital, St. Luke’s Roosevelt Birthing Center, and Woodhull Hospital. Susannah received awards from the March of Dimes, the Hillman Scholars Program, and the American Public Health Association. Susannah is fluent in Spanish and French. She thoroughly enjoys her work as a midwife and considers it a privilege to be with women through the transitions of pregnancy and birth.
Jessica Tsipe Angelson graduated with a master’s degree from Columbia University’s Midwifery program. She began her career with the midwifery practice of North Central Bronx Hospital, one of the largest and longest standing midwifery services in the country, where she cared for a diverse group of women with both low- and high-risk pregnancies. She is active in political advocacy for the profession of midwifery in New York and has a particular interest in the bioethics of reproductive healthcare and perinatal palliative care. Prior to becoming a midwife she worked in public health in southwest China. She speaks Yiddish, Spanish, Chinese, and French.
